On GASS 003 Dreamtrak sets thrusters to boost and conjures a musical ecstasy that is pure programmed science fiction - machined, tooled and coded but speaking to the stars of breath, sweat and desire.
The title track ‘Open Source’ is a software love song from the future. A time capsule that chimes to life as it begins. The syrupy bassline lopes in and gets welded to the astral remnants of a hazy boom bap. It’s an interplanetary bounce. Robots too feel funk as mechanical voices burble the refrain. “Why don't you come over, I'm ready. Ooooh, collaboration. We can do some coding, or whatever. Ooooh, integration”. A sweet robot modulated voice singing an algorithm of desire. Dreamtrak the producer has become a self-generating pop musique machine, streaming in a continuous signal through planetary debris and lights shows on distant planets. Human, android and alien alike humming to the vibrating pulse across galaxies to the very edge of space.
What I Did On Holiday is a perpetual motion soundtrack, intro and outro but no peaks or drops really. Just movement, an exercise in poetry and ambience, an in-the-zone therapy for emulating seaside trips and universal vistas through sound during deep space travel. Digital, biological and mechanical have long fused and the synchronicity of things is complete. Machines, flesh and music are blended into a beautiful science fantasy of yearning and anticipation. The system operator programming new worlds and old ideas into our delicate dreams.
Dreamtrak is the personal musical alias of Oliver Horton, a London based producer whose engineering skills and production finesse have served artists such as Foals & Chicks On Speed while as Dreamtrak he has remixed artists such Little Boots, Hot Chip and Mø.
The ‘Open Source’ EP is the third release on London based GASS Records and was preceeded by Ep’s from Detroit Techno Militia (GASS001) and Blaqstarr GASS002).
GASS is a London based label and collective that provides a platform for new music and art, influenced by evolving technology and underground dance culture. It is led and curated by international DJ Mamiko Motto
